A visit to the Nucleo medical centre

On 10 January, LMIFB members had the opportunity to visit the medical centre of "Nucleo" Ltd (www.nucleo.lv), the only place in Latvia where a cyclotron has been installed. It will soon produce radiopharmaceuticals for nuclear medicine diagnostics using PET/CT equipment. During the visit, the members of the Society visited the cyclotron, the radiopharmaceutical production facilities and the PET/CT facility, and also got acquainted with the process of how radiopharmaceuticals are produced and how they are delivered to the patient. Our thanks to Edgars Čimbars and Gundars Strīķis, representatives of SIA "Nucleo" and Arbor Medical Korporācija SIA Maris Kuzminskis for arranging the visit, sharing his valuable insights and experience.

LMIFB Honorary Members Award Ceremony

On 2 December, a ceremony to honour the LMIFB Honorary Members took place at the RTU MTAF Dean's Meeting Hall. For their long-standing contribution to the launching of the field of medical physics and engineering in Latvia, its development, scientific and research activities, diplomas were awarded by the LMIFB Board.
Diplomas were awarded in person to Nina Mironova-Ulman and Yuri Dekhtyar. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, Honorary Members Juris Lauznis and Haralds Jansons were unable to attend and will be awarded their diplomas individually.
During the formal part of the meeting, the Honorary Members shared their memories of the beginnings of medical physics and engineering in Latvia. They also talked about how they established relations with international organisations and about the founding of the Society itself.

New sections on the website

To improve the exchange of information, in the Society's website (http://lmifb.lv/two new sections have been created: meeting summaries (http://lmifb.lv/par-biedribu/sezu-kopsavilkumi/) and Vacancies (http://lmifb.lv/noderigi/vakances/). In the future, summaries of the issues and decisions discussed at the meetings will be available in the Summary of Meetings section. The Vacancies section will allow the submission of advertisements, which will be published on the website. More information on how to submit advertisements is available on the website.
